The Agenda. It takets time and expense to prepare an agenda. With that thought. Why was it not used as an agenda? Oops forgot the pledge. And the silent meditation. Then this is just my personal need. But I sat with earphones, and the volume oh high and could not hear two thirds of what was being said. ANY MEMBER THERE WANT TO ADMIT THEY HAD DIFFICULTIES HEARING? Speak up. I the public would appreciate learning what FOR Real is matters at hand. Possibly you need to do some in house training for conducting and participation from the board members. Not one member spoke of any issues to the agenda. One man wanted clarification on the new hire position of the sec. How was that resolved. I think so,yes we did. Being a member you need to be knowledgeable. No one spoke up of certainty of vote. No wonder you have issues from the public who sits on the board. For example FOOD service. Just asked for approval of all business at once. I would at least like to see or Hear the agenda read. Outloud. Anyone agree? Now that would be the purpose of an agenda. Mr. President of the Everett school board members. Please I am not wanting to express any feelings of unkindness. I would like to offer that if you google , How to use an agenda they offer long and short versions of conducting a meeting. Thank you all for your services. Do yourself proud. I will look forward to learn of upcoming decisions of the board. Maybe then with the economy we are now in ,we the public expect to be represented by members who
Are actively involved. As noted the oneman spoke of this in his five mintue time slot. I believe it would be safe to say we are not the only two tax payers feeling the same
You may use this as a correspondence at the next meeting.

  4. Sidney Clark says:

The residents of the Everett Area School District in Everett Borough and Monroe Township will have an additional choice to consider for School Board Director. I am announcing my entry into the race for the two positions currently up for election in Area II (Everett Borough and Monroe Township). I believe that the other taxpayers of Everett Area School District Area II are also looking for a chang…e in the way the School Board is conducting business.

I have been quoted in previous meetings asking the Board to always consider “What is Best for the Kids” when making any decisions. I will practice this philosophy in making effective and economical decisions for the district as a school board director. I have lived in this district most of my life and am a alumus. I want to see our district continue to succeed.

  5. Mark McConnell says:

    To Lee Clark,

You can write in Tom Cicala’s name for the school board position in the general election if you choose to do so.

  6. Lee Clark says:

I have tended my share of meetings in Everett and else where . There is one board member I believe is name is Larry Winter .When he votes he mumbles and his handed is over his face, only the secretary knows if he voted yes or no . No frankly I don’t think he know either . I understand in private he thinks hes a know it all, and a sneaky one . From what I’m told I wouldn’t trust him with anything what a facade .why is this man on the board? all he does is polish a seat . If that man ever had anything to add I would eat my hat. I have heard a few pretty disturbing stories about him . I for one trust the persons that told them to me, they sound credible. Anyway how does a community elect someone like that . He is clueless about school issues , don’t think he has any kids, don’t know squat about finances. Hes a yes yes go with the flow voter . I cant help wonder why the electorate votes in dead weight . I suppose when there is a contested seat with 2 or so good candidates , we the people loose . Than a guy like him gets on the board . Don’t know where he came from, BUT HE IS CERTAINLY OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE LOCALS.Another one that I hope they dont elect is that secretary from mann township . melissa singleton , that woman has nothing but negative garbage to say, I suppose its because she really doesnt have anything positive to add . Her credentials are hmmm oh she live in the district and is a secretary hmm if you call that credentials . Anyway she trashed both her aponents in the primary . All excited and obviously proud of her self she had done backround checks and had lots of dirts and proceeded to spout off .That’s just what we need a gossip with nothing but a negative trash mouth . Anyway at this point, if I were in that precinct I would vote for the retired teacher Pamela wilt. Too bad she isn’t taking Larry winter’s seatI was sorry that wild man Cicala lost the primary by about a dozen or so on each ticket . I would have loved to see him stir up some positive action on the board . Sure hes a character, but that kind of character is what the district needs. Both the tax payers and students would have been well served by him.I think hes in the Chaneyville, Breezewood, Mann area Hopefully he will run in 32 years and take Larry winters seat at least it will be well polished .what a mess a board can be a make up of nine people, some of them just enjoying the ride like its a half hearted hobby ” be a schoool board member be important do nothing stay safe. Not” .

  7. Sidney Clark says:

As of the filing deadline, August 1, for third party candidates, there will now be 3 candidates for Everett Area School District School Board Area II. Gary Sams and Sheila Whisker will have to face Independent Candidate, Sidney M. Clark. Mr. Clark is the one candidate that keeps reminding everyone, we need to do what is best for the kids (www.facebook.com/WhatsBest4theKids).

  8. Sidney Clark says:

Please do not forget that Everertt Area School District’s Final Budget is scheduled to be approved at this month’s voting meeting scheduled Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 7:00 pm in the High School Cafteria.

It is important that we have as much representation as possible to show the School Board we need them to the make the right decisions for our kids!!! Hope to see you there!

  9. Tom Cicala says:

There are a lot of ways to cut expenses, cutting the van transportation is not an acceptable answer. The families and students in my area for example, the Chaneysville and Beans Cove areas have been inconvenienced and put out enough. Our children leave home earlier than other children and are last to leave the schools and certainly drive the furthest. Now to add insult to injury would be inexcusable. I pick up my girls 1/2 mile from my house and they get home at about 4:15 in the evening. I Thank God I am available for them every day. However not all parents have that capability. Imagine cutting the vans that take the children to the big bus. Children would be left a good distance from their homes. I’m not sure anything over 1 1/2 miles is even legal. That would also presuppose that the conditions for walking were safe. They are not. Imagine students/children of all ages being dropped along some country road. The impact and dangers to these children could be devastating. Imagine outlining area parents having to drive every day before and after school. Certainly there could be and would be times when parents could not make it, by no fault of their own. The ramifications of dropping students far from their homes boggles the mind the dangers are numerous. If transportation is to be cut, than consider cutting bussing for pet programs, extracurricular activities, and sports what ever you must. However the basic transportation of children should not even be on the table. I cannot believe that honorable people, our board members could even consider such a thing. I want each of them to put their children in a situation like my children are now in and then vote on it. I for one will do everything in my power and ability to be sure this never happens. I will not just let this pass. I have never found myself at odds with our school district, I hope I do not over this. Impact studies, route safety, and the affects of this should be studied as well. I am confident once it is, it will be ruled out at a school board level. SHOULD IT BE CONSIDERED A METHOD OF CUTTING EXPENSES, I do not believe it will stand up to the legal test that I believe will ultimately follow.

  10. parent in outling area says:

I had a bus driver tell me this morning she heard they were going to do away with the vans . For parents and students in the outlining areas that means you will be driving your children to and from a central location every day to meet a big bus . now tell me how that will work . I have not heard an idea that is worse than that in a long time . In the chaneysville cove area our children are last to leave the school and drive almost an hour after that . If that makes sense to anyone please say so and tell me why . Mean while money is being allocated for pet projects and extra curricular activities . I am willing to bet that the money saved will be quickly spent as was the money supposedly saved by closing chaneysville. If you voted for a board member don’t hold your breath that they will stand up for that which is important to you and your family . I can name a few board members that I trust to look out for us in the forgotten areas . However there are not enough . I am quite Honestly frustrated and not in a position to make a difference .

  11. sharon says:

Did anyone else notice that when Mr. Jett and Mr. Harclerode were speaking the first two board members on both sides of the table would hardly look at them……..RUDE JERKS!!!!!!

I guess for some reason they think thy are important….They better think again

  12. FREE PRESS STAFF- CAMERAMAN says:

  14. Tom Cicala says:

there has been talk on the streets about new blood on the school board being needed . I would like to see leaders fill the seats not followers . I am very happy with the Elementary and middle school teaching staff and administration .I would like to see some policy change in some areas. That is on our School Board members . Our students and safety of them doesn’t end at the doors of the school . A lot can happen while students are walking home . I am concerned about the walking route safety. Simply stating that the board policy is compliant with state regulations is not enough .we need a comprehensive common sense re-evaluation .

  15. FREE PRESS STAFF says:

as fas as coach waltman no one showed up to complain, so for now it is a dead issue

  16. wondering says:

When they were talking and voting on the surplus monies under new business near the end. What was said as to where this money would go? I could not hear that clearly.
Also , it was something to hear that our district is loosing students. No reason given.
Along with that I would like to say the calling system that has been put into use for closure or cancelling school has been a productive way of keeping parents up to date on these conditions. Thank you to the district for this.
I do not want to rock the boat but what ever happened to coach waltman, was that issue settled?
