The Everett School Board took two more steps to make their voices less audible. 1. they moved Cameraman to the rear of the room. 2. they pushed their mics to the center of the table. Whats with these people? One reason given for moving Cameraman was that he could hear what was being said among Board Members(which they didn’t want heard). I thought that was what Executive Session was for. Now we see the public’s backsides and hear less, but hearing less of the public is what their after. I would like to see more public participation at these meetings or by petition, to let these folks know what we think. Tom Harclerode got 260 signatures on a petition in three days, yet they would not entertain their wishes. As their new Solicitor told me;”They don’t have “Rules” for their meetings, they make up any rules as they go”.
As for information on Taxes, I’ve been getting a runaround on that issue for more than a year, but I’ll keep trying to figure it out and let the public know the whole story.
Just wanting to comment of how informative and professional the meeting of the Everett School Board was. Now that was a board meeting.
Sure hope many take time to watch and listen to the video.
Suggestion if the down load seems to be taking a long time. I find it best to first let it completely download then hit replay, there are less interuptions when listening.
Mr. Camerman great job. Thank-you BCFP for offering this infomation to the public.
It brings to the public what our school board is doing, and how they work to determine what happens within our county/district.
This is also a good way to put a name to a face of the board members, this is where the board will be deciding on tax issues. The meeting talked about What the students are doing in different programs. Mr. Hilleagas let us in on a little secret of Valentines DAy at the elementary school. He will be wearing hearts all over him and anyone may buy one for 50 cents. If you wanna know why and the rest of the story listen to the video. One more tidbit of info I heard was brought to the attention of the board that they are in need of a student to be sitting on the board. More talk of it on video.
The tax tool.
The school board members have voted to set up a committee of 4 to prepare information to bring back to the board of how they would use this TOOL to determine the tax. I beleive it was Mr. Wilt said in the past the decision was made by the president and may be one other person. Maybe should of not brought this up. But, again here we are thinking tax payer dollars, we expect the board to represent us on what the tax mills will be, so here may be where some of you may have more knowledge and share with us that need to learn more.
This will be the school tax, which that tax is added to the county tax correct? Then the township or borough is added to that tax. A three in one bill. Correct me if I am wrong but this is the tax notice that we receive in around July. Is that right? Then it has to be paid by When?
I wish there was a book or a web site I could visit that would tell me just what all the taxes are here in Bedford County.
Like county tax
school tax
township
borough
real estate / property
occupational tax
6 percent tax
IRS WELL OF COURSE. Pa. State Tax, Then there is a Bedford County Tax too. Right?
What age is it that a person begins to pay taxes? 16
I am pretty sure this is not taught in school. Or is it?
What is each one for and when are they paid and who collects them? This would be good to know for anyone who is trying to live on a budget so that they can plan of how to make ends meet. If I knew more I would do an article. But I know little, so someone help us all please…………..Lots of questions I know. But ya gotta ask questions if ya wanna get answers.

Like I said, Just begining to learn of what you have to offer on your free press.
I do hope others do hear of this site.
See you were up and about posting the news early this a.m.
So pass it on, so many citizens here in our county do not have the opportunity to travel. Which makes this site of Board / Buiness Meetings a great tool for learning what they may have an interest in.
I find you can decide what you want to look at or just go on by. Easy to use video of school board meeting. A great way for those who do not know who represents them to see, and then also have a choice of listening to the meeting. Especially this time of the year with the unpredictable weather it will be a good opportunity to see and hear of what is in the community. It may be my hearing or it maybe my network but I did find it difficult to hear what the Everett School Board Members were saying.
